Cusco Info
The city of Cusco is considered as one of the “World Heritage Sites”, it was the cradle of the civilization of the Incas and due to its great monuments that has, it becomes the most important touristic place in Peru. The City of Cusco offers to the world a variety of natural attractions as well as cultural ones.
To arrive at this City, to walk in its streets and enjoy its landscape, is like transporting yourself to the past, there is something in its atmosphere that makes you live and experience a deep profound fascination for this City.
The meaning of the word “Cusco” comes from the native quechua language word QOSQO - transliterated into Castilian Spanish - that means “Navel”, this has been known by chronicles of the writer Inca Garcilaso de la Vega who also called it “ the Navel of the World”
LOCATION: The region of Cusco is located in the South side of the Andes at the farthest point of the south of Peru at 13° 30′ 30” latitude south and 71° 58′ 20” longitude east starting from the Greenwich point.
AREA: The region of Cusco has a total extension of 76,225 km and the province of Cusco at 523km
ALTITUDE: Cusco is located at (over the) 3350 metres above sea level / 10991 feet taking (the main point) as the reference point the Main Square ( Plaza de Armas)
CLIMATE: It is cold and dry, it has two seasons that are very defined: the rainy season that is between the months of November and March with a temperature the varies between 11º and 13º C and the dry season that is between the months of April and October, with sunny days and cold nights with a average temperature of 9ºC.

Machupicchu
Its altitude is of 2380 metres above sea level/ 7808 feet (MSN) located to the Northeast of the Urubamba River. At the mountains of the Vilcabamba, the citadel of Machupicchu, new wonder of the modern world, makes up of the most important archaeological remains of the world and the main place of visit in Peru .Very little things created by man have this unique way of being put together.

In the times of the Inkas was called “suns house” and it was a great religious center of great importance in the local tradition, when the Spanish arrived they thought that it was a fortress because of the position and shape, it has three levels which is walls are made of rock and they are perfectly align, and this gives someone the impression of a great fortress on impenetrable access.
